Web Trainings in February

Categories:
I'm happy to announce three different KBOO website trainings. Please sign-up if you plan to attend. Sign-up lists are posted in the training section, to the left of the white board by the receptionist desk. The trainings are all this month, and will resume again mid-March.
The trainings include Tuesday, 2/8: Using the KBOO website; Wednesday, 2/16: Promoting your Program; and, Thursday, 2/24: Radio & the Digital Age.
Before attending, please have a working log-in to the KBOO website.
USING THE KBOO WEBSITE:
Tuesday, February 8
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Studio One
The first is a 101 intro to the KBOO website, and is appropriate for volunteers who do any sort of deep-diving into the website; from receptionists, community calendar volunteers, audio uploaders, all the way to programmers. This is the place to start. We'll have lots of time for questions, so bring 'em.
PROMOTING YOUR PROGRAM: GETTING THE WORD OUT ABOUT THE GREAT WORK YOU DO!
Wednesday, February 16
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Studio One
Are you a programmer, or do you just act like one? This class explores the ways you can punch up the volume, reach more listeners and build a community around your show using the KBOO website. This training will primarily cover the building blocks of the KBOO website: program pages, blog entries, audio uploads, and playlists.
Secondarily we'll be talking about taking it outside: fliers, community events, getting guests, using other websites, email lists, cross-promoting, press releases, using the community calendar, networking with guests, on-air announcements and more -- but depending on how things go, this may also be covered in the third class.
RADIO AND THE DIGITAL AGE
Thursday, February 24
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Studio One
Here we'll be talking about old and new ways of reaching your audience. Here, we imagine that your program information is selling the sizzle on KBOO -- here's how to bring that sizzle out on to the web.
We will talk about the philosophy behind effectively using social media. We'll also how new forms of media are changing the way we interact with radio, and what this means for KBOO. Program hosts and volunteers are invited to attend and find out how our station and your show can make sure we stay relevant in the era of iPods, blogs, and social networks. We'll also touch on old school methods like fliers, email lists, press releases, networks, and the like.   ###
